Dr Joseph, I am told, is the best in Augusta. I hope others have a better experience if this is the case. I feel even if he is a great doctor it does not show. He is over booked and therefore he and his staff can not adequately care for their patients.
Dr. Joseph is great but the wait times are obscene! 2 hours in the waiting room is unacceptable!
The doctors are perfectly fine and I like Dr. Joiner but the wait is ridiculous. Appointment times mean nothing other than that is when you begin waiting. It is frustrating because it is as though this practice does not value their patients time. This is a chronic problem. Two hours after my appointment time and I am still not in a room to see the doctor. Perhaps the scheduling needs to be revised to allow for longer appointment windows.
I tried to like this office. I even planned to deliver with them after I moved and should have transfered immediately. However, my experience with a new practice after I ended up transferring showed me how much I hated this office.
As you sit in the waiting room you hear the sighs of exasperation. It is unfortunate that volume of patients has over ridden common courtesy of not wasting others time.
After stressing over having to change doctors I decided to go to Dr. Joiner. My experience with her was greater than I anticipated. She was very thorough in explaining medical options and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable.
I informed them that I had transferred my care and would not be delivering with them when was 32 weeks pregnant. I was told they would have to re-bill my insurance because it would be coded differently since I was not delivering with them. After paying my entire deductible ahead of time I needed that money to pay the hospital I actually delivered in. I still have yet to get one penny of that money back. According to my insurance I should be receiving almost all of it back and it has been 4 months since they were made aware I had transferred.
I cannot thank Women's Health and especially Dr. Eaker enough. I moved to Augusta in 1991 and went from a referral of a friend. I have had too many issues to talk about but through 2 healthy babies and 2 miscarriages, a hysterectomy and a whole lot more, these Doctors always made me feel like a loved one and not a patient. Highly recommend them for high risk and troubled pregnancies!
You do not feel like a person here. Your appointments often are rushed after you wait for hours in a waiting room. You MUST come prepared with your concerns and record what happens at each visit and hold them accountable for what should be done at each appointment. Had I not been educated about my own health they would have had me go through a test which could have made me sick enough to harm my baby. They performed unnecessary blood work that had already been done and didn't do tests that should have been done. The repeated blood work my insurance isn't covering.
Update: Finally got my deductible back. Took 6 monthis, but keep calling. Eventually, someone gets the job done.
